Abbey Carpet and Floors
Ralph Abelow is President and Owner of
Abbey Carpet and Floors in Hagerstown and Frederick and a
Shop-At-Home Service.
Abbey Carpet and Floors of Hagerstown was founded in May of 1981 by Abelow as Carpets Unlimited Inc. He has been in the floor covering business since 1977. In the beginning he was a one-man-staff. He waited on customers, processed the orders, unloaded delivery trucks and sent his customers a thank you and flowers after the job was completed.
Carpets Unlimited Inc. grew rapidly adding several employees within only three months. Mr. Bob Collins (formerly of Collins Custom Floors) was the first official salesperson. The first year's gross revenue was about $300,000.
"Our goal for this year is $5,000,000.00 in sales," said Abelow.
In March of 1983 Carpets Unlimited Inc. expanded into Frederick Maryland. By January of 1995 Carpets Unlimited Inc. joined forces with Abbey Carpet Buying Group.
Abbey Carpet is a national marketing and buying group that, at that time, had 350 stores nationwide. Since then, Abbey has grown to nearly 1,000 stores nationwide.
"This gives Abbey a tremendous advantage in buying power which translates to better prices, higher quality and real value for our customers," said Abelow.
Abbey Carpet of Hagerstown continued to expand in the fall of 2003 by opening a new division which caters only to new home builders. This expansion,

The fall of 2006 will bring the addition of

"Abbey Shop at Home Services will save the customer time and money by bringing the floor covering products directly to their home," said Abelow.
Abbey carpet of Hagerstown Maryland continues to to move forward. September of 2007 will mark the grand reopening of Abbey Carpet and Floors in Hagerstown. This will introduce our completely remodeled showroom and a complete face lift of the premises. A new parking lot with improved lighting, digital messaging board and a new handicap ramp are just a few of the many improvements.
Abbey Carpet and Floors is proud of its experienced and customer friendly service. Mr. Tim Hockensmith, formerly of Mohawk Carpet, is general sales and merchandising manager with nearly 30 years experience in the floor covering industry. Tim brings his specialized skill and knowledge to all Abbey Carpet and Floor's clients.
Kim Miner is Vice President of Operations with 29 years experience in floor covering.
Frank Wickless has 43 years in the business and oversees the Frederick operation.
Bryan Miner, Service and Warehouse Manager, has 15 years experience in installation, sales, service, warehouse, problem solving and quality control.
